Le Patin Libre Long Beach Theatre reviews
Mediocre at best.
I have seen Le Patin Libre a few times in the past decade plus some, and I must admit I was not at all impressed. Actually, to tell you the truth, very disappointed. Let's start with the lead singer... He appears quite distant from the music he is playing and his fans. He isn't playing for the fans; it's almost as if he's playing just to play. It felt like he didn't want to be there. On the contrary, the bassist and the drummer were phenomenal. The drummer, whom I've seen before, has more talent than what is showcased with Le Patin Libre. The bassist, in my opinion, stole the show. He is a captivating entertainer and performer who truly enhanced the evening. The setlist was lackluster. They seemed (understandably) focused on promoting the new record, which, once again, isn't that good. Le Patin Libre used to excel both instrumentally and lyrically, but it seems that spark is missing with age. "Long Way Down" and "Dizzy" are two songs that should have been included in the setlist to showcase their rock spirit. Instead, it felt reminiscent of DMB with the overall mellowness of the show. Overall, it was a complete waste of $50.00 per ticket.
